A little about this project

The team of teachers and managers at Leybourne Chase had seen our work at another school in their group and got in touch to ask if we could help them bring a new experience to their children and their free play time, and to give them areas where they could take their learning out into the great outdoors. They wanted an eco-friendly and natural feeling play area that felt like an extension of their beautiful, wooded grounds. On this project we prefabricated every element in our carpentry workshop. Their shelter was the biggest we have installed yet, at 25 metres long, and requiring 12 columns to be dug into the ground to keep it strong and safe for many years to come. The tower we built was designed by a group of teachers and we literally squeezed in as many other elements as we could including a play house, an amphitheatre, a construction zone, play tunnels, a splash wall, learning corner, a daily mile track as well as seating and storage. No one got left out in terms of their varying needs or learning stage! Even our team of ‘big kids’ got to test out the bigger pieces of equipment.
