A little about this project

When we first met with Barley Lane’s team, we were inspired by their ‘wish list’ of equipment and by hearing all about what their Year 1 and 2 children had said they wanted in their outdoor space. They had only an empty Tarmac playground before we visited, and had been dreaming about equipment to play on at break time for a long time! We couldn’t wait to get started on this project and give them a completely new experience. We took their ideas and used our knowledge to create a play area that ticked all their boxes and added more of our own suggestions to give them lots of choices. The school’s team then worked with our design team to develop everyone’s ideas into their dream! A wobble bridge, a balance beam, a rope bridge, and a trim trail were all part of the fun plans. Our pictures of the grand opening tell you what the children thought of the finished piece – they loved it! After building and installing their chosen equipment in the summer holiday, they invited us back at the end of the school year to install even more. Another trim trail to add to their collection, because apparently, the queues to use the first one were too long!
